Springfield Kids has launched Project KUMI, a collaborative initiative with the non-profit organization Babies Uganda. This partnership aims to build an orphanage on Zinga Island—one of the most impoverished areas surrounding Lake Victoria—to provide shelter for 50 orphaned or abandoned children who currently live in precarious conditions without a family.

Babies Uganda is dedicated to the well-being of children, offering care and a nurturing home to more than one hundred children aged 0 to 10. Beyond providing essential resources such as food, education, and healthcare, the organization ensures that every child receives what matters most: a loving family and a safe place to call home. With over 10,000 individuals benefiting from its programs, Babies Uganda continues to be a beacon of hope in one of the world’s most disadvantaged regions.

The name KUMI, which means “ten” in Swahili, references the ten fundamental rights of children and symbolizes Springfield Kids’ strong, long-term commitment to this cause. The collaboration is brought to life through a limited-edition capsule collection of t-shirts, designed by the Springfield creative team and inspired by the vibrant culture and colors of Uganda. This exclusive collection includes two styles for girls and two for boys, available both online and in Springfield stores featuring the Springfield Kids section. All profits from sales will be donated in full to the construction of the orphanage.

Construction began in February and is expected to be completed by July. The orphanage will offer the children a secure and loving environment, while also granting them access to education and healthcare—dramatically improving their quality of life.

Springfield proudly joins Babies Uganda in the belief that every child deserves a future full of opportunity and a place to call home.
