Acting with purpose

We are defined by our purpose, Make Fashion That Matters, by which we promote attractive, quality, committed, and sustainable fashion. That is our purpose, but it is also our way of acting, creating, and working.

We realise that the textile industry is facing great challenges and that our activities impact the environment. We are aware of our responsibility to position Tendam in the world of fashion with sustainability as the goal we aim to achieve, a goal that requires long-term commitment and humility. This goal is attainable thanks to the efforts of all those who join with us.

Roadmap:
We care

Our roadmap addresses the main challenges faced by the sector and inform our activities in all areas across the board.

This roadmap outlines our journey towards sustainability, setting ambitious, carefully measured goals designed to exert a positive impact on protecting and caring for the planet to ensure that the communities where we have a presence are able to grow and to improve transparency over our entire value chain and with our stakeholders.

Advancing the 2030 Agenda

Our goals and commitments are linked to the United Nations 2030 Agenda’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This enables us to identify new challenges and opportunities and to design a business strategy that places the focus of our operations on combating climate change, on protecting biodiversity, on the well-being of the people we work with, and on ensuring human rights for everyone.

Partnerships

Our partnerships let us move forward in step together and have a multiplying effect towards achieving our goals in cooperation with stakeholders in the value chain, extending the positive results achieved beyond the bounds of our business.

We are aware of the need to work with others if we are to be able to put our roadmap into effect and make a real contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Life cycle

We are at the start of a long journey that began in 2019 with the launch of our first collection of more sustainable clothing and our first Sustainability Plan.

Design

Conscientious design is key to achieving Tendam’s hallmark, product circularity, quality, and durability.

Our designers are at the forefront of our commitment to sustainability, aiming to prioritise the most suitable processes and materials to ensure that our product standards are met.

51% of the clothes in our collections have been designed responsibly according to environmental criteria in the manufacturing process: from the raw materials selected to improvements in production processes, according to internal company standard.

We have surpassed, ahead of schedule, the target of reaching 50% by 2025.

Production

We work with our suppliers to meet environmental and social standards and best practice to continue along the road to sustainability.

We know that clothing production and manufacturing use large amounts of energy and water and chemicals. Not only do we continue to invest in production to achieve quality improvements, but we also focus on reducing, reusing, and recycling the waste generated in the process.

We strive to ensure that the production processes of our suppliers also comply with our code of conduct.
All our clothing and accessories suppliers sign our Code of Conduct and agree to comply with our ethical standards wherever they are in the supply chain.

Tendam aims to reduce water consumption in its clothes manufacturing, for instance by responsible washing programmes for treating denim garments and by reducing water use in textile manufacturing of the fabrics used.

Distribution

We endeavour to achieve maximum efficiency in logistics from the time our products leave the factory to the time they reach the shops or are delivered directly to customers. We have an extensive distribution network composed of many interconnected shops with high capillarity.

We look for the best combination of shipping options that combine speed, cost, and sustainability while employing measures to minimise energy use and reduce waste along the way.

We have managed to replace single-use plastic material for our customers almost completely, replacing plastic bags at our shops with recycled paper bags and packaging for online sales with paper envelopes or cardboard boxes. From 2020 100% of our shops in Spain have been powered by renewable energy.

Reportings

We publish annual sustainability reports to track the measures we take and document our progress in areas that are important to Tendam and our stakeholders.
A range of standards and indicators are used to ensure that we achieve the highest levels of economic, environmental, social, and ethical performance.
