• José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, visits Tendam’s headquarters to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Cortefiel and to learn first-hand about the group’s latest developments and projects

Tendam, a leading vertical omnichannel platform in Europe’s specialty fashion sector, today welcomed José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, to its headquarters. The Mayor visited the company on the occasion of Cortefiel’s 80th anniversary and to gain an in-depth understanding of Tendam’s activity, the group to which the brand belongs, its contribution to Madrid’s economic development, and the main projects currently underway.

During the visit, Martínez-Almeida held a meeting with Jaume Miquel, President and CEO of Tendam, as well as with the company’s executive team. The meeting included a presentation of Tendam’s strategic growth plans, its innovation and transformation initiatives, and the evolution of its multimarket omnichannel ecosystem.

The visit also included a tour of the facilities, where the Mayor was able to see first-hand the operations of Cortefiel and the rest of Tendam’s brands, as well as the photographic studio from which the graphic and digital production is coordinated for the digital stores and app of the group’s twelve brands.

The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, took the opportunity to extend his Christmas greetings and express his appreciation for Tendam’s continued presence in Madrid, as well as the work carried out by the Cortefiel teams. He highlighted how the brand, throughout its 80-year history, has remained closely connected to the city: “Cortefiel and Madrid have been a great match over these 80 years, and will continue to be for many more years to come.”

Jaume Miquel, President and CEO of Tendam, thanked the Mayor for his visit and stated: “Reaching Cortefiel’s 80th anniversary is a tremendous responsibility and a source of pride for all of us who are part of this company. We are a brand born in Madrid 145 years ago, and from here we have experienced different milestones: the incorporation of Pedro del Hierro and the creation of new brands, international expansion, and the development of one of the first loyalty clubs in the fashion sector. All of this while maintaining our bond with Madrid, which remains our home and our main launching point for growth abroad. For this reason, we especially appreciate the Mayor’s visit, his support and that of all Madrid institutions.”

Cortefiel, a history rooted in Madrid

Founded from the historic Quirós department stores on Romanones Street, Cortefiel opened its first store under this name 80 years ago in Madrid. Tendam’s current headquarters are also located in the capital, on Llano Castellano Street, in a building that once housed the company’s textile factory.
