A collaboration between Hoss Intropia and the IbizaPreservation Foundation supports an annual study of the Posidonia of Ibiza
Hoss Intropia and the IbizaPreservation Foundation begin their first alliance with the aim of following up on the annual monitoring of the state of 1,236m2 of Posidonia oceanica on the Pitiusas islands. Thanks to the donation of nearly €20,000, the foundation has been able to finance for the third consecutive year a study carried out by the environmental organisation GEN-GOB of the meadows in different parts of Ibiza, as well as the purchase of thermometers to facilitate the measurement of water temperature and its impact on the conservation status of this marine plant, which plays a vital role in the ecosystem.
In addition, IbizaPreservation will allocate part of Hoss Intropia’s contribution to a new study of shark and ray populations in Ibiza and Formentera in order to obtain crucial data on these little-known species and thus promote their conservation based on empirical knowledge.
Hoss Intropia launched a charity product last summer, a limited edition sarong, with the aim of raising funds for the Balearic foundation. 100% of the profits obtained from the sale of this product have gone to finance these environmental projects.
Customers are contributing to the annual monitoring of the Posidonia meadows – in Talamanca Bay and Cala Vadella – and supporting the new initiative for the preservation of sharks and rays in the Mediterranean.
According to the director of IbizaPreservation, Inma Saranova, ‘this collaboration is fundamental to continue deepening the conservation status of the Posidonia meadow of Ibiza, declared a World Heritage Site for its incalculable environmental value and which needs all the help it can get to continue being the true lungs of the Mediterranean’.
Since 2021, the fashion brand has managed to protect more than 80,000m2 of Posidonia meadows, caring for the crystalline waters and the wellbeing of the ecosystem of the Pitiusas islands.
