An initiative aimed at improving the physical, mental and emotional well‑being of women after overcoming the disease.
The Dexeus Mujer Foundation and Women’secret have once again joined forces to launch their new solidarity campaign under the slogan “Taking greater care with words takes greater care of us all”, intended to raise awareness about breast cancer. This initiative is designed to sensitize society to the impact of language, and to discourage the use of words such as “champion,” “warrior,” or “heroine,” which—rather than helping—can put pressure on women who are dealing with breast cancer.
For more than 30 years, Women’secret has collaborated with causes that affect women. Twelve years ago, the #SíMeImporta project was established to support women in their recovery from breast cancer. Its fundamental objective has always been to help normalize the lives of women who experience it, ease their daily existence, accompany them through the process, and promote their overall well‑being and recovery. Ultimately, the goal is for them to feel good about themselves again.
This year, we support the program “Feel yourself again. Because your life goes far beyond breast cancer” by the Dexeus Mujer Foundation, which offers personalized services aimed at fostering the comprehensive health of patients. The campaign “Taking greater care with words takes greater care of us all” seeks to set an example of how to support patients through their cancer journey—without pressuring them to see themselves as warriors or superheroes.
Today, thanks to medical advances, the survival rate for breast cancer exceeds 85%, and in many cases rises above 90%. Nevertheless, many women continue to face physical, emotional and psychological aftereffects that affect daily life: changes in body image, sexual dysfunctions, hormonal alterations, emotional challenges, problems with concentration or memory, and specific needs in nutrition and physical care.
This year, the women’s lingerie brand is offering a solidarity tote bag to raise funds that will be allocated to the “Feel yourself again. Because your life goes far beyond breast cancer” program, which covers services such as:
- Psychological support: to address the emotional impact of the disease on self‑esteem, relationships, and reintegration into everyday life.
- Fertility preservation: especially for younger women wishing to conserve childbearing capacity prior to treatment.
- Intimate and sexual health: regenerative gynecological therapies after chemotherapy to address vaginal atrophy, loss of desire, and other side effects.
- Nutritional counselling: dietary education aimed at general well‑being and prevention.
- Specialized physiotherapy: pelvic floor exercises, manual therapies, and guidance to reconnect with the body and treat sexual dysfunctions.
- Informative workshops: communication with family, lymphedema prevention, micropigmentation, postoperative recovery, sports, legal aspects, and more.
- Group sessions for cognitive functions: activities to recover concentration, memory, and other faculties affected by chemotherapy.
In addition to providing treatment, the campaign aims to break taboos around the less visible aftereffects of cancer—such as changes in sexuality, self‑esteem or fertility—and to make these realities visible so as to foster empathy and social support.
The campaign also has a solidarity component: women from across Spain are invited to participate and contribute to fundraising efforts, which will make it possible to offer these treatments free of charge to more patients—through therapies prescribed by specialists according to the needs of each case.
