Tendam – the group encompassing Cortefiel, Pedro del Hierro, Women’secret, Springfield y Fifty – takes home the ‘Retail Transformation and Re-invention’ prize at the sector’s annual global awards ceremony.

The achievement affirms the company’s positive progress amid an ambitious transformation plan which reached a significant milestone this week with the launch of a new corporate identity.

Madrid, 20 April 2018 – Tendam, one of the world’s leading retail fashion groups, has emerged victorious at the World Retail Congress after scooping the Retail Transformation and Re-invention Award in recognition of the company’s transformation plan executed since 2016. The ceremony brought the curtain down on the three-day Congress held this year in Madrid, with the future challenges of the retail sector providing the backdrop of debate.

The panel, comprising renowned retail industry experts and executives from across the globe, endorsed the Spanish company’s development as a reward for its sterling work over recent years.  The work started by Tendam 18 months ago has led to a hike in like-for-like sales across all its brands, an increase in online sales of over 30%, improvement in margins, stock reduction and an upturn in EBITDA of more than 81% in its most recently presented results.

Jaume Miquel, CEO of Tendam, said “we are extremely proud that leading retail industry experts have appreciated and recognised our transformation process. For us the award is like winning the Champions League of the retail sector”.

Professionals and executives of the likes of: Paul Charron, Board Member, Escada; Bernie Brookes, former CEO of Edcon; Bijou Kurien, Board Member, L Capital; Richard Simonin, Vice-Chairman of the Board, Al Tayer Retail; Rick Darling, Executive Director, Government & Public Affairs, Li & Fung; and Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne, Executive Director, Customer, Marketing & M&S.com, Marks & Spencer; among others, made up the panel of experts awarding the prize to Tendam in the same week as the launch of its new corporate identity.

Since the first World Retail Awards in 2007, the event has recognised the work of the sector’s leading companies across different categories. A key meeting in the retail calendar, past winners at the ceremony include giants Tommy Hilfiger, Marks & Spencer, Sephora, TOMS Amazon and Boyner Group.
