• Together with Cortefiel, Pedro del Hierro, Springfield, Women’secret and Fifty, Tendam has launched the campaign #TodosSumamos-El hilo que nos une (#AllTogether – The thread that connects us) through which they have made garments made for its brands available for to the health sector.

Tendam, one of the main groups in the specialist fashion sector in Europe consisting of the brands Cortefiel, Pedro del Hierro, Springfield, Women’secret and Fifty, has launched different charitable initiatives that they hope will mitigate the urgent social and healthcare needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.

As an active and responsible part of Spanish society, Tendam and its brands (Cortefiel, Pedro del Hierro, Springfield, Women’secret and Fifty) have started the campaign The thread that connects us, under which they have made clothes from their brands available to medical institutions for use by healthcare professionals and front-line workers, some of whom have moved out of their homes to help in the fight with the pandemic. Similarly, patients and care homes going through critical times can make use of everything they need to alleviate their situation as much as possible.

Since the initiative was launched, the company has received requests from over 300 hospitals and medical centres throughout Spain, as well as many care homes for the elderly and field hospitals such as the one in the IFEMA conference centre. Around 50,000 items of clothing have been processed so far: pyjamas, gowns, slippers and underwear for hospitalised patients, as well as changes of clothing for healthcare staff. Theses donations have already reached the 1 million euro mark in value.

The group has also made all its resources available to the health authorities, care homes and hospitals. The group has processed the transport to Spain of over 1 million euros’ worth of medical equipment, partly financed by Tendam and partly placing our purchasing and logistics capacity at the disposal of Openbank and CLH. In total, we are talking about 2.5 tonnes of healthcare material.

Tendam has also set up the production of protective equipment, primarily gowns and masks, to be sent to several care homes as soon as they are ready; on average 150 gowns per day, with a total of 2000 already distributed. In the meantime, in collaboration with the Fashion Department at Francisco de Vitoria University (Madrid), the group has supplied pre-cut fabric for the production of 7000 triple filter masks.

Tendam is still working on the launch of other initiatives that may effectively contribute to improving the situation with the help of all players – society, businesses and authorities.

Salary bonus for all workers

The company has confirmed that, as in the month of March, it will provide additional pay for its furloughed workforce to make up 100% of their base salary for April. The firm will also continue to offer micro loans to employees at 0 interest to cover the delay in payment of state benefits.
