Madrid, 8 October 2019 – Last night, the SERES Foundation held the prize-giving ceremony for the X edition of the SERES awards: a recognition of the best business practices in social matters. On this occasion, the social innovation and business commitment of Kern Pharma, Mutua Madrileña and Tendam were recognized, thanks to programs focused on different fields, such as health or gender violence. Likewise, on the occasion of the celebration of the tenth anniversary, Ford España was especially awarded for its trajectory in promoting and facilitating the labor and social inclusion of people with disabilities, and acting as a loudspeaker for the collective around research and innovation in the field of mobility.

The SERES Foundation has recognized Tendam for launching the Post Surgery Bra project with its intimate brand Women’secret. An initiative carried out jointly with the Dexeus Mujer foundation and thanks to which it contributes to normalizing the lives of women who have undergone a mastectomy, with the will to make their day-to-day life easier.

Jaume Miquel, president and CEO of Tendam, collected the award that the company received for Post-Surgery Bras through Women’secret. A line of lingerie and swimwear created for women who have suffered from breast cancer, designed to be able to adapt to the use of prostheses or post-surgical use. The project has been carried out together with the institution Dexeus Mujer. “It is a sincere initiative that was born out of honesty and a call for women to feel complete in their femininity without having to go to an orthopedic store,” said Jaume Miquel.

The collection is distributed in the Women’secret stores where the patients usually bought, offering comfortable and feminine garments at affordable prices that also meet all the necessary medical requirements.

The aim is to normalize the lives of these women and make their return to everyday life easier. The project started in 2013 with the first collection of prosthesis bras, and in the last 3 years 20,000 women have acquired more than 68,000 units.

This edition coincided with the tenth anniversary of the birth of SERES, which today has almost 150 associated companies, representing 70% of IBEX and 35% of GDP. Only half of the main member companies of this Foundation last year accumulated an aggregate social investment of up to 846 million Euros, 10% more than the previous year.

Francisco Román, president of the SERES Foundation, said during the presentation “throughout these ten years and in the almost 800 projects that have passed through the jury has clearly perceived a capacity to weave a network generating shared value. These annual recognitions are the practical and “grounded” example that society and business need each other, and this is their true value of working together: the generation of a dialogue and a common culture that catalyses the true value of social commitment in a systematic way”.

Likewise, and as a reflection on the evolution in these years of the social commitment of companies, Román added that “the beginnings of the social concept of business, which has moved from the definition of traditional philanthropy, to a greater synergy between the daily activity of companies, and their own business purpose, and the needs and demands of a changing environment, have been left behind. The entrepreneurial will to create and build a “new social contract. In SERES we understand the social commitment of companies as an opportunity. The growth of the company and society generates opportunities for all“.

Both the delivery of this tenth edition and the RADARSERES conference, which, as a focus of collaborative reflection between companies and society begins today with three axes located in the future of employment, responsible leadership, and inclusion and new business models, have had as institutional allies: Accenture, Atlantic Copper, Boston Consulting Group, BBVA, HP, Inditex, Repsol and Telefónica.
